Orthopaedic Services Expanding, Total Joint Program Launches This Fall at CCMC

Clay County Medical Center (CCMC) is proud to announce the expansion of orthopaedic services at Clay Center Family Physicians (CCFP), with the hospital’s first-ever total joint replacement surgery scheduled for December.
The expanded orthopaedic team includes James McAtee, M.D., Adam Chase, M.D., Kayla Dieball, ARNP, and Lisa Price, PA-C. Through a new partnership, patients throughout north-central Kansas will have increased access to both surgical and non-surgical orthopaedic care close to home, including joint replacement procedures for the hip, knee, and shoulder.
CCMC’s new surgical suites are equipped with advanced technology that allows for a wide range of procedures, including total joint replacements, knee and shoulder arthroscopy, carpal tunnel release, ulnar nerve transposition, and other outpatient orthopaedic surgeries.
“We are very grateful to Dr. McAtee and Dr. Chase for their many years of service at Clay County Medical Center,” said Austin Gillard, CEO of CCMC. “We are pleased that our partnership will allow us to expand this vital relationship even further.”
The Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Center has provided care to CCMC patients for decades and is recognized for its experienced providers, quality outcomes, and patient-centered approach. Dr. McAtee has cared for patients at CCMC since 2000, while Dr. Chase joined the medical staff in 2020.
“OSMC has enjoyed caring for patients at CCMC for more than three decades,” said Dr. McAtee. “Dr. Chase and I are very excited to partner with CCMC to provide joint replacement procedures locally in Clay Center.”
Dr. McAtee is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and specializes in joint replacement, sports medicine, trauma care, hand surgery, and spinal procedures. He has served as a national and international instructor for minimally invasive total joint replacement techniques and currently serves as Chairman of the Board for Manhattan Surgical Hospital. He is also a team physician for Kansas State University Athletics.
Dr. Chase specializes in knee, hip, and shoulder replacement, reconstructive surgery, sports injuries, fracture care, and minimally invasive arthroscopy. He serves as an incoming president of the Kansas Orthopaedic Society and is also a team physician for Kansas State University Athletics.
The launch of the Total Joint Program represents a significant milestone for Clay County Medical Center and strengthens its commitment to providing advanced specialty care locally, reducing the need for patients to travel outside the region for orthopaedic treatment.
