Hospital Foundation Announces Capital Campaign

The Clay County Hospital Foundation (CCHF) has launched a capital campaign to support the development of a new mental health clinic at Clay County Medical Center (CCMC).

The campaign was announced during the Foundation’s annual meeting and will help fund a 6,765-square-foot addition to the hospital. The project includes a dedicated mental health clinic as well as expanded space for surgery and pulmonology services.

“CCMC has created a brick-and-mortar response to the mental health challenges affecting our region, and we want to show our full support of the project with this campaign,” said Bryce Dolan, Foundation Director. “This clinic will expand CCMC’s ability to support the emotional, psychological, and social well-being of the communities we serve.”

The Foundation has established a fundraising goal of $150,000 to support the project. Community members can contribute through general donations or room-naming sponsorship opportunities within the new addition.

“We are excited to create an opportunity for our community to show its support for this important effort,” said Dan Thalmann, Campaign Director. “We know supporters of healthcare understand the importance of addressing mental health needs, and we are confident people will step forward to help equip the hospital to meet this challenge.”

The $3.8 million construction project includes a 2,422-square-foot mental health clinic and a 4,343-square-foot expansion of Clay Center Family Physicians. Additional improvements include enhancements to the emergency department and expanded parking for therapy services.

The new mental health clinic will include two psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners, a marriage and family therapist, a mental health counselor, and supporting medical staff. The clinic is designed to help meet the growing demand for mental health services throughout the region, including Clay, Riley, Cloud, Washington, and Mitchell counties.

“We are facing difficult times with mental health in society right now,” said Austin Gillard, CEO of Clay County Medical Center. “CCMC has already experienced a high demand for mental health services, and this expansion will allow us to serve even more patients who need care.”

The Clay Center Family Physicians expansion will also provide additional space for general surgery and pulmonology services, including more exam rooms and an additional procedure room.

By expanding local healthcare services, CCMC can continue helping patients receive quality care close to home rather than traveling to larger cities for treatment.

Construction was scheduled to begin in August 2024, with completion anticipated in April 2025.

Community members interested in supporting the campaign may contribute at any level. Room sponsorship opportunities are available for donations ranging from $5,000 to $15,000.
