Updated: Jun 10
Clay County Medical Center (CCMC) is pleased to welcome Wendy Gibson, PMHNP, to its behavioral health team.
As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Wendy brings a diverse educational background and a wealth of healthcare experience to the organization. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Colorado and later completed a Master of Business Administration from Kansas Wesleyan University. She also holds a Master of Nursing in Patient Safety and Quality from Southern New Hampshire University and most recently earned her Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certification from Washburn University.

Wendy’s passion for healthcare began at an early age, inspired by her mother’s nursing career and her experiences visiting the hospital where her mother worked. Her interest in understanding the complexities of the human brain eventually led her to specialize in psychiatric nursing, with a particular interest in geriatric mental health.
Throughout her career, Wendy has served in a variety of healthcare settings, including intensive care, open-heart recovery, and emergency medicine. She has also contributed to the education of future nurses as an Assistant Professor of Nursing and Coordinator of the Nursing Skills Lab and Simulation Center at Kansas Wesleyan University.
Raised in a rural farming community in Colorado, Wendy appreciates the values and close-knit relationships found in small towns and is excited to serve patients in the Clay Center area.
“I appreciate CCMC’s patient-oriented and forward-thinking approach to healthcare,” Wendy said. “I look forward to becoming part of the community and helping individuals achieve better mental health and overall well-being.”
Outside of work, Wendy enjoys reading, writing short stories, drawing, studying early American history, and traveling. She is also an avid animal lover and has cared for a wide variety of pets and farm animals throughout her life.
Clay County Medical Center is excited to welcome Wendy to the behavioral health team and looks forward to the positive impact she will make for patients and families throughout the region.
