Pediatric Therapy

Clay County Medical Center offers physical, occupational, and speech therapy services for infants, children, and teens with developmental conditions, injuries, illnesses, or delays. Services are available in both inpatient and outpatient settings and are tailored to each child's individual needs.

Occupational Therapy

Pediatric occupational therapy helps children develop the skills needed for everyday activities, independence, learning, and social interaction.

Areas addressed may include:

  • Fine motor skills

  • Visual motor skills

  • Coordination

  • Self-care skills

  • Sensory processing

  • Self-regulation

  • Communication and social skills

  • Cognitive skills

Treatment plans are individualized and may include one-on-one therapy, home programs, adaptive equipment recommendations, splinting, and caregiver education.

Speech Therapy

Pediatric speech therapy helps children improve communication, language, feeding, and swallowing skills.

Services may address:

  • Speech sound development

  • Language and vocabulary skills

  • Communication abilities

  • Voice concerns

  • Feeding and swallowing difficulties

  • Understanding and following directions

  • Cognitive and problem-solving skills

Speech therapists can also perform video swallow studies to evaluate swallowing function.

Physical Therapy

Pediatric physical therapy helps children develop, regain, and improve movement, strength, balance, coordination, and mobility.

Areas addressed may include:

  • Muscle strength

  • Range of motion

  • Balance and coordination

  • Gross motor development

  • Movement and mobility

  • Pain management

  • Specialized equipment needs

Treatment may include therapeutic exercise, balance training, specialized equipment, manual techniques, and play-based activities.

Feeding Clinic & Sensory Gym

Clay County Medical Center offers a Feeding Clinic that uses a team-based approach to support children with feeding challenges and safe eating habits. Services include the Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) Approach to Feeding, a research-based program for children experiencing feeding difficulties.

The Sensory Gym provides specialized resources for children with sensory processing challenges and is supported by occupational therapists trained in sensory-based treatment approaches.
