Emergency Services
The Emergency Department at Clay County Medical Center provides 24/7 emergency care for patients experiencing illness, injury, or other medical emergencies. Our team includes trained nurses and on-call medical providers equipped to assess, stabilize, and treat a wide range of emergency conditions.
The Emergency Department is supported by a helicopter landing pad for rapid transport to larger facilities when advanced care is needed.
What to Expect
Upon arrival, a nurse will assess your condition, review your medical history, allergies, symptoms, and take your vital signs. This evaluation helps determine the urgency of your condition and the order in which patients are seen.
Patients are treated based on the severity of their condition. If your symptoms worsen while waiting, notify an Emergency Department staff member immediately.
Evaluation and Treatment
After your initial assessment, a member of the medical team will examine you and determine if additional testing or imaging is needed. Depending on your condition, treatment may include medications, IV therapy, splints, bandaging, or other emergency interventions.

Admission or Discharge
Following evaluation and treatment, you may be admitted to the hospital, transferred to another facility, or discharged home with instructions for follow-up care. Before discharge, staff will review any instructions, medications, or prescriptions and answer your questions.
