Clay County Medical Center Revives Beloved Teddy Bear Clinics for Kindergarten Students

Clay County Medical Center (CCMC) is excited to announce the return of its Teddy Bear Clinics, a fun and educational experience designed to help local kindergarten students become more familiar with the hospital environment.
During the event, children are encouraged to bring their favorite stuffed animal to the hospital for a hands-on adventure that follows a patient's journey through healthcare. Through interactive activities, students learn about different areas of the hospital while building comfort and confidence around medical settings.
Participants will visit several stations, including:
Emergency Room Admission: Stuffed animals are checked in and have their vital signs taken by healthcare professionals.
Radiology: Children learn about imaging as their stuffed companions receive an X-ray.
Mark A. Chapman Wellness Center: Students participate in fun physical activities that promote healthy lifestyles and wellness.
Dining Room Finale: The event concludes with a snack and time to celebrate a successful visit.
“Our Teddy Bear Clinics are a fantastic way to introduce children to the hospital setting in a positive and engaging manner,” said Bryce Dolan, Development and Foundation Director at CCMC. “We want to create a welcoming experience that helps young children feel more comfortable with healthcare professionals while also teaching them about the importance of health and wellness.”
The Teddy Bear Clinics have long been a favorite community tradition at CCMC. In addition to providing an enjoyable learning experience, the program helps strengthen connections between local families and the healthcare team while reducing fears children may have about visiting a hospital.
