MEALS
Your doctor will order the type of diet necessary as part of your plan of care. Please notify the staff if you have certain food preferences or dislikes. We ask that you check with your nurse before having food brought in from outside the hospital.

Your guest may purchase meal trays or we welcome them in our Dining Room. Complimentary tea and coffee are available for family members. Other drinks and snacks are available in the Dining Room. Snacks and beverages are always available from vending machines near the Dining Room.

VISITING GUIDELINES
Clay County Medical Center encourages the practice of visiting patients. Some care units have restrictions so please ask your nurse for more information. Visitors of patients in isolation will be guided by signage posted outside the patient room. Children under the age of 12 may visit an isolation room if they are capable of wearing protective wear. For more information on specific precautions, please ask your nurse for a brochure.

MAIL
Give outgoing mail to your nurse. We will deliver mail to you daily.

NOTARY SERVICES
The services of a notary are available at no charge. Please notify your nurse if this service is needed.

INTERPRETER AND TDD SERVICES
If you or a family member have special communication needs such as interpreter services, TDD services, or telephone amplifiers, please tell your admissions representative.

ENTERTAINMENT
These are available for your enjoyment:

  • Telecaption (closed caption decoder)

  • Video Tape/DVD Player

  • Talking Books

  • Magazines, Newspapers,& Books

  • Radio/CD Player

FLOWERS, PLANTS & GIFTS
Flowers and plants are delivered on a daily basis by area floral shops to the nurses’ station, then on to the patient’s room. To allow room to care for patients in our Intensive Care Unit, no flowers or plants are taken in. These are kept at the nurses’ station until the patient is moved into a regular room.

PHONES
Family and friends may contact you by dialing (785) 632-2144 and asking for your room number. Please let your nurse know if you want incoming calls limited, or if you have any other questions.

You may use your telephone to place an outside call in the following manner:

LOCAL CALLS - Dial 9 for an outside line, then the local 632-number

LONG DISTANCE CALLS - Dial 9 and then your calling card number or by charging the call to your home phone number. We are unable to place long distance calls through the switchboard or to the patient’s account.

CELL PHONE CALLS - Cell phones are permitted in the hospital.

MARK A. CHAPMAN WELLNESS CENTER
Located in the expanded northeast wing of the hospital. The Mark A. Chapman Wellness Center’s mission is to promote the health and wellness of our community through education and preventative measures to ensure healthier life-styles. One day passes can be purchased for our visitors. Guest passes are available.
