Respiratory Therapy is located adjacent to Cardiac Rehabilitation.  This facilitates a close working relationship between two departments who often serve the same patients. A Respiratory Therapists is available to patients 24 hours a day seven days a week. Annually over 12,000 Inpatient procedures and 1,400 Outpatient procedures are provided for patients and members of this community. Respiratory Therapy provides treatment, evaluation, monitoring and management of patients with breathing disorders or cardiovascular problems.

  • Pulmonary Function & Arterial Blood Gas Testing
  • Oxygen, Heliox & Lung Expansion Therapy
  • Ventilator Management
  • Aerosol Medication Delivery

The Respiratory Therapy Department at CCMC employs three full time staff members.  All staff have completed their Associates Degree in Respiratory Therapy and have the designation of Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).  All are licensed by the State of Kansas and have nearly sixty years of combined experience. 

In 2007, the RT department was relocated to an area that allows more space for treatment, testing and administrative services.  With the new Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) equipment, the diagnostic ability of the department was greatly enhanced by adding total lung capacity testing and diffusion studies.

coberlyCongratulations to Dana Coberly for graduating from the California College for Health and Sciences. In July 2005, she received her Associate of Science in Respiratory Therapy. Her A.S. degree enabled her to take and pass the National Board for Respiratory Care credentialing exams, and receiving a promotion to an R.R.T.–a position she now proudly holds at Clay County Medical Center. Excellent patient care is Dana's specialty. She loves working at a small hospital because it provides her with the oportunity to get to know and support her patients on a deeper, more intimate level.

Among the many values that respiratory therapists must accept upon their entry into the field of respiratory care is the value of professionalism. In 2007, Clay County Medical Center received a certificate for Quality Respiratory Care Recognition. They received this designation for providing quality respiratory care services to their patients and community.
