Quilt Display

This Raggedy Andy quilt display by Peggy Rikli was given to her oldest son Joshua by his grandma (Peggy’s mother) when he was 2-years old. It was made by a friend of the family. It is a combination of hand and machine quilting and is about 40-years old. It has special significance for the family because Andy has red hair and so do Josh and Peggy!

The dolls in the photo were made by Vicki Pfizenmaier while she was in High School Home-Economics Class as an "assembly line" project. The teacher was Pam Spicer and she was emphasizing sewing projects that could be used in real life jobs after graduation. As a group, the students each had "jobs" in creating the dolls. Vicki’s job was embroidering the faces and making arms/legs. When all the parts were complete the dolls were stuffed, sewed together and sold as a money-making project. Students had the opportunity to purchase a set of dolls at a discount. These dolls are also about 40 years old!

Peggy and Vicki thought the Raggedy Ann and Andy’s would be a good display for the seasonal quilt theme for August - September relating to back-to-school. The quilt is located in the Activity Director's office.
