The Clay County Hospital Foundation’s Annual Dinner was held on Monday, May 4, 2015, at St. Peter and Paul Parish Center. Foundation President Mike Floersch thanked the membership for their continued support and also recognized the board members for their years of service.
Clay County Medical Center’s new CEO, Austin Gillard, MHA graciously accepted a request to address the group. Mr. Gillard gave a presentation entitled, “Challenges in Healthcare”. He addressed the challenges facing critical access hospitals as they adapt to regulations in the Affordable Care Act; shrinking reimbursements; sequestration and declining populations in rural areas. Mr. Gillard faced his own challenge – he was asked to speak at his introductory foundation meeting, which was also his first day on the job at Clay County Medical Center!
Since 1987, Clay County Medical Center has been supported by the Clay County Hospital Foundation (a 501(c) 3 non-profit Foundation). The Foundation’s mission is to provide the funds necessary for updating facilities at Clay County Medical Center, and to support the hospital in its endeavor to promote a healthier community. In addition to serving as the fundraising entity for the hospital, the Foundation provides ongoing leadership and vision for the hospital through its trustees, which include a diverse group of community leaders who volunteer their time to serve on Foundation committees.
Over the last two decades the Foundation has contributed nearly two million dollars in donations from individuals, organizations, and corporations. These gifts are evident throughout our facilities in the form of new buildings and vital remodeling projects that meet the vigorous demands of our physicians and their patients.
