Rita Buurman’s time as interim CEO of the hospital was shorter than either she or the hospital board intended it to be.
At a special meeting on January 11, 2015, Rita gave notice to the Clay County Hospital Board of Trustees that she won’t be able fulfill the obligations of the position due to complications of a recent surgery. However, she has offered to remain a resource for the board to utilize as they search for a new CEO.
The board hired a replacement, Robert (Bob) Mullen, of Manhattan, who starts working January 20, 2015 as interim CEO.
Bob earned both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in secondary education from Kansas State University. He has served on Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas Board of Directors since 1990, was chairman of the board 1998 to 2000 and has served on audit and compliance and finance committees.
Bob Mullen’s healthcare career spans thirty-eight years. He served as administrator for Hospital District No. 1 in Lyons, KS from 1982 until his retirement in 2011. Since that time he has held interim positions at Lincoln County Hospital, Lincoln, KS and Logan County Hospital, Oakley, KS.
Please help us welcome Bob to our community!
