Summary of Employee Benefits
Clay County Medical Center is pleased to offer several benefit options to its employees. A Full-time employee is one who is regularly scheduled 60 - 80 hours per pay period and Part-time employees are those who are regularly scheduled 40-59 hours per pay period. Pay periods are biweekly and pay is issued every other Friday.
Health and Wellness Benefits
Medical Insurance/Prescription Drug Coverage
Employees are eligible for insurance the first of the month following employment. Clay County Medical Center (CCMC) offers two employee group health insurance plans with each having four levels of coverage (single, emp/spouse, emp/child, family). Monthly rates vary accordingly.
The High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) qualifies for Health Savings Account (HSA) participation. This plan has 3 levels of deductibles. The in-network deductible is $4,000 with a 60/40 copay. Maximum out-of-pocket including Prescription Drug expenses is $6,000 for a single plan. A family must meet two deductibles. Services for CCMC and Clay Center Family Physicians (CCFP) are slightly lower. Out of network services are slightly higher. For the Full-time employee, CCMC provides 70% of the premium cost and 50% of the premium cost for the Part-time employee.
The Traditional Plan also has 3 levels of deductibles. The in-network deductible is $1,500 with a 40/60 copay. Services for CCMC and CCFP are slightly lower. Out of network services are slightly higher. There is prescription drug coverage with $15, $50, $75, and $150 co-pays. For the Full-time employee, CCMC provides 65% of the premium cost and 45% of the premium cost for the Part-time employee.
Employees may choose to take the insurance package or waiver out. All employee’s premiums are deducted from the employee’s paycheck under the Flexible Compensation Plan. Premiums are deducted from the employee’s check on a pre-tax basis.
Delta Dental of Kansas are the providers for the CCMC group dental plan. Employees are eligible for insurance the first of the month following employment. CCMC offers four levels of coverage (single, emp/spouse, emp/child, family) with CCMC providing 49% of the premium cost for Full-time and Part-time employees.
The hospital provides $10,000 of term life insurance and $10,000 of AD&D coverage for all Full-time and Part-time employees who work 40 or more hours per pay period. Additional supplemental coverage can be purchased for the employee and their dependents.
The hospital offers short-term disability to both Part-time and Full-time employees and long-term disability insurance for all Full-time employees. Premium costs are based upon employee's age and annual income.
The hospital also offers a group Cancer, Accident, and Heart/Stroke and Vision insurances.
Retirement and Tax Advantage Plans
The Clay County Medical Center Retirement Plan assists employees with financial security in retirement. All eligible employees are required to participate in the plan. Any employee age 21 or older is eligible. This is a defined contribution plan with 3.5% of an employee's gross being withheld and deposited for them with American United Life. After an employee earns $15,000 gross in a calendar year the contribution level is raised to 7% for the rest of the year. These earnings are tax deferred under the 414(h)c IRS code. CCMC matches these contributions after one year of employment working 1,000 or more hours per year. Employees are 100% vested after eight years of employment working 1,000 or more hours in each of these years.
Voluntary - Both tax deferred and Roth after tax voluntary 403(b) annuities are available on a voluntary basis. These are not matched by the hospital.
Employees can save on Federal, State and Social Security Taxes by participating in the following plans:
Unreimbursed Medical Flex Spending Account - employees can pay for most medical deductible & co-pays; dental and vision expenses.
Dependent Care Reimbursement - allows payment of certain child care or adult day care expenses up to a family limit of $5,000 per year.
Both Unreimbursed Medical and Dependent Care Reimbursement are deducted from the employee’s paychecks under the Flexible Compensation Plan on a pre-tax basis.
Health Savings Account - Employees participating in the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) are eligible to take part in a Health Savings Account (HSA). These selected amounts are deducted from the employee’s paychecks under the Flexible Compensation Plan on a pre-tax basis and deposited to the employee’s personal HSA account at Union State Bank.
Full-time employees can receive up to $2,500/yr. in tuition assistance upon successful completion of approved courses with a grade of "C" (2.5 grade point) or better.
Part-time employees can receive up to $1,250/yr. in tuition assistance upon successful completion of approved courses with a grade of "C" (2.5 grade point) or better.
Continuing education opportunities are available to employees on-site, off-site and on-line. CCMC sponsored on-site and web based continuing education class offerings are free of charge to employees who work regularly. Discounts are available for PRN employees.
Eligibility for discounts is available to employees:
Hospital Services - Regular Full-time and Regular Part-time employees receive a ten (10%) percent discount on hospital bills. This discount applies to the portion of the bill after insurance. An additional twenty (20%) percent on the after insurance portion will be allowed if the bill is paid in full within 30 days following a mailer statement from the hospital after payment by the insurance company. Should an employee not have any insurance coverage, the discount will apply to the total bill.
Meals - A $20.00 meal value credit may be purchased for $10.00 from the Dietary Department through payroll deduction.
Mark A. Chapman Wellness Center - Reduced rates are given to PRN employees and immediate family members. All Full-time, Part-time & Regular Relief employees and their immediate family members are provided free membership.
Time Off Benefits
Vacation/Paid Time Off (PTO)
PTO is a combination bank consisting of an accrual of vacation time, holiday hours, and some of the sick leave into one time-off bank. This time is to be used for personal time off, holidays and illnesses not dealing with approved FMLA leave or a one day illness. PTO is accumulated on a prorated basis for Full-time; Part-time and Regular Relief employees. PTO begins accruing on the first day of employment but cannot be taken (except on recognized holidays) until completion of 6 months of employment.
Clay County Medical Center recognized holidays are New Years Day, Memorial Day, July Fourth, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Full-time and Part-time employees who have been employed 30 days or more may be paid for the day from their paid time off bank. All employees will be paid time and one half their regular rate for working the holiday when required.
Extended Sick Leave
Extended sick leave is available to Full-time and Part-time employees only. Extended sick leave begins accumulating on the first day of employment but is not eligible to be used until completion of 6 months of employment. Extended sick leave accumulates on a prorated basis according to hours worked in a pay period. Extended sick leave may be used for sick leave of two days or more and for approved FMLA.
