| Dedication
to Clarlyn Kuck As
I saw the cross-stitched quilt blocks come into the Hospice office, I thought
of the cross-stitched designs that my sister made as a Christmas gift for each
of her family members as she filled the last months of her life. Her nieces, nephews,
great nieces, and nephews were an important part of her life. A
quilt block that was made with love is dedicated to my sister, Clarlyn Kuck. Clarlyn
was there for all of us. She had taken care of our mother and worried more about
her than with the pain she endured with cervical cancer. Clarlyn underwent surgery,
the results - six months to a year to live. She couldn't take the chemo treatments
and decided to enjoy whatever time that God had given her. She took leave of absence
from her job of 25 years with South Western Bell when the pain was unbearable,
or in need of another surgery, as cancer claimed other parts of her body. Clarlyn
remained strong in faith and spirit. Being named Godmother to a great niece gave
her one more reason to fight her battle, turning her one year into six. She enjoyed
her nieces and nephews activities and thought they were the medicine that she
needed. As long as her strength allowed she was doing for others. With
the help of hospice nurses and her family, Clarlyn was able to fulfill her last
wish, to stay home. Mother and Daddy were waiting for her when she went to her
heavenly home January 22, 1995 shortly after celebrating her 52nd birthday. Dedication
