Hospice Quilt Dedication

Elwyn Edwards

I stitched my square in memory of a dear friend, Elwyn Edwards, who was a chaplain for our local Hospice chapter in his retirement years. He dedicated his time to helping those who were in the last stages of their illness. God called him home too soon, but we know that he is at peace.

I chose the Tree of Life pattern without even knowing this in his memory, there is a plaque hanging on the wall at the Hospice office where he worked... it's the Tree of Life! People can purchase a leaf for the tree in his memory to support Hospice. I was FLOORED by the "God"-incidence!

I stitched his initials on the trunk of the tree, just as many of us carved our initials on trees as children. I thought this was fitting.

Elwyn, as the years go by and the trees continue to grow, so will our memory of what God can do in a person's life, as He did in yours, if they will only listen to His calling.

AND OUT OF THE GROUND CAUSED THE LORD GOD TO GROW
EVERY TREE THAT IS PLEASANT TO THE SIGHT, AND GOOD FOR FOOD,
THE TREE OF LIFE ALSO IN THE MIDST OF THE GARDEN,
AND THE TREE OF KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL
