A love for cross-stitching and generous spirit
led to a friendship that resulted in the
International Quilt Project

Linda Yarrow

"I was given the opportunity to fnish a cross stitched design for Linda Black of Clay Center, Ks, who was dying from cancer. Linda was an avid cross-stitcher and quilter and this piece was one of her last projects and seeing it completed brought great joy to Linda & her family. During this time, I began visiting Linda & her husband Bob and had the opportunity to witness first hand how Hospice took care of them. Hospice controlled Linda's pain so that she could have quality time with her family. They provided emotional and spiritual support for Linda and Bob and allowed them to focus on their time together and not the illness. After Linda passed away in Nov. 2000, I wanted to support Hospice by creating a quilt that would help raise funds so that Hospice care could be provided to those in need, and also to increase awareness of how valuable Hospice is. Through the generous support of cross stitchers from around the world, local quilters, and numerous others, we became blessed with 4 quilts, 4 pillows, and a framed cross-stitch piece that will be used to raise money for Hospice care. The quilts are the results of the talent and dedication of those who believe Hospice care is invaluable. Thank you for your interest in and support of this wonderful organization." -- Linda Yarrow
