While sitting in Church
one Sunday, a young child asked his mother who the people pictured in the Church's
stained glass windows were. His mother told him they were saints. He then wanted
to know what a saint was. His mother told him to wait until after Mass was over
and she would explain it to him. The child continued to sit and ponder the question,
however. After a few moments, his eyes lit up and he whispered to his mom. "I
know, Mom! A saint is a person who lets the light shine through them!"
This
stained glass window design is dedicated to all of the Hospice "saints" out there
who work tirelessly to ease the pain, suffering and fear of those who are nearing
the end of life's journey. They are, for many people, the one bright shining light
in a time of great darkness. It is also dedicated to the memory of my aunt, Rosemary
Lohr Mogan. Wife to Jerry, Mother to Susie and Sarah and Grandmother to Owen.
Hospice was instrumental in easing her last days. It is in her memory that I decided
to participate in this project. May she rest in peace.
