Course
Description
To develop proficiency in teaching BLS, Heartsaver, 1st Aid courses.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of the course, instructor candidates should be able to:
- Demonstrate an effective presentation of BLS &/or HSFA information
and materials
- Function as the leader and participant in all components of a BLS or HSFA
Provider Course
- Create, present and lead the BLS teaching modules
- Evaluate provider candidates and remediate as appropriate
- Explain AHA regional and national policies and procedures and the
AHA Training Network
- Follow CCMC Training Center policies and procedures
Steps To Becoming A BLS/HSFA Instructor
- Pre-register/study/prepare assigned 10 minute lecture to be given
in class/demonstrate use of scenario cards and CPR skills on manikins/attend
BLS Instructor Course
- Participate actively and effectively in two BLS or HSFA Provider
Course while being monitored by a BLS TC Faculty member within 6 months
of this course
- BLS Instructor Course faculty review the Instructor Candidate's performance
in the Instructor Course and in the monitored Provider Class. BLS & HSFA
Instructor cards will be awarded after the faculty determine readiness
and ability to instruct BLS &/or HSFA courses.
