ACLS: Advanced Cardiac Life Support

Course Description
The Advanced Cardiac Life Support course is an Emergency Cardiovascular Care Program of the American Heart Association. This course is designed to review, organize and prioritize the skills and didactic information needed to handle a cardiac arrest, events leading to a cardiac arrest and events that follow a cardiac arrest.

Course Prerequisites
• All ACLS participants are required to be proficient in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers skills (BLS-HCP). A copy of your current card is required at registration. You will be asked to demonstrate those skills to successfully complete the ACLS course.
• Knowledge of cardiac arrhythmias and ability to recognize arrhythmias.
• Cardiovascular pharmacology; mechanism of action, indications, dosage and precautions for emergency medications.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
• Recognize and initiate treatment for prearrest conditions that may lead to a cardiac arrest, including acute coronary syndromes, respiratory failure and stroke.
• Manage the first 10 minutes of an arrest due to ventricular fibrillation.
• Correctly treat the 4 arrest rhythms.

ACLS Initial 2-Day Class

This is a full, 2-day session with lectures and skills stations covering the management of patients with these conditions: Ventricular Tachycardia, Ventricular Fibrillation, Pulseless Electrical Activity, Bradycardia, Asystole, Acute Coronary Syndrome, Stroke and Respiratory Failure.

This class is for first time students, students who want an in-depth review and more practice time or students who have expired ACLS certification.

ACLS Renewal 1-Day Class

This is a one-day renewal designed to accommodate experienced professionals who are self-directed to review the ACLS protocols on their own and need less practice time in the classroom.

Renewal students must have a current ACLS card. If you took your ACLS course more than 24 months ago, you are advised to take the Provider course.
