President Mike Floersch
Owner/Operator, Ray's Apple Market
Mike Floersch was born in Seneca, KS and raised on a farm near Baileyville, KS and attended B&B High School where he graduated in 1970. He went to Highland Community College and came back to join his father in the grocery business in Seneca. He married his highschool sweetheart, Nelda, in 1972 and they moved to Clay Center in 1980. Mike's father passed away in 1984 and the stores were renamed in his honor. Ray's Apple Market stores are located in Kansas: Seneca, Clay Center, Council Grove, and Manhattan and Nebraska: Fairbury. Mike and Nelda have three married children and several grandchildren.
Secretary Marion Stuart
Marion Stuart was born and raised in Emporia, KS. Marion attended grade school on the college campus in Emporia and graduated from Emporia High School. Her first two years of college were spent at Baker University and then she transferred to Emporia State University where graduated with a Bachelor of Science and Master degrees.Marion married Charles Stuart. They lived and taught high school at Lorraine, KS. And later moved to Chapman, KS where they lived for three years. They moved to Clay Center, KS where Chuck served as the Superintendent of schools. Marion taught in schools at Idana, Longford, Broughton, Clifton and Clyde. She has been retired for 20 years. Marion was one of the founding members of the Clay County Hospital Foundation and has been on the Board of Directors since 1991.
Treasurer Sandy Fox
Chief Financial Officer, Union State Bank
Sandy M. Fox is a graduate of Clay Center Community High School. She majored in Accounting and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Kansas State University. She passed her Uniform C.P.A. examination in 1988. She has served as Controller for the Clay County Hospital, a Certified Public Accountant for Woods & Durham, Chartered and presently serves as Vice President/Chief Financial Officer with Union State Bank. She has been a Director of the bank since 2005. Fox has been active member of the community by serving on the Clay County Medical Center Board of Trustees since 2001. She joined the Clay County Hospital Foundation in 1993 and has served as treasurer of that board since 1995. Fox was a member of the local Rotary Club from 1988-2005. During her tenure, she held the office of President and was a member of the Rotary Group Study Exchange Team to Colombia, South American in 1988. She has been a member of the Clay Center Chamber of Commerce, Lincoln & Garfield Elementary School Site Councils. She has also been a member of the Clay Center Municipal Band since 1972, the St. Paul Lutheran Church since 1983 and is a lifetime member of the KSU Alumni Association. Sandy’s husband Bill is a pharmacist with K-Mart Pharmacy in Manhattan, KS and they have two sons, Garrett and Tanner.
Director Marcia J. Newell
Dir. of Planning & Development, Clay County Medical Center
Marcia was born in Nashville, KS. Marcia joined the staff at Clay County Medical Center and CCH Foundation in January 2005. Previously, Marcia was at UMB Bank in Manhattan, KS where she served as Vice-President & Trust Officer for 4 1/2 years. She has 15 years experience in insurance sales and services with Kansas Farm Bureau and affiliated companies. Marcia is married to Jeff Newell who manages the Clay County Farm Bureau. They have a daughter, Jaime, who resides in Hickman, NE with her husband and their two boys, Kaden and Kahle. In her spare time Marcia enjoys gardening and her pets.
Austin M. Gillard, MHA
Chief Executive Officer, Clay County Medical Center
Austin M. Gillard was raised in Stilwell, Kansas with family in Girard, Erie, Parsons and Chanute, Kansas. He received a bachelor’s degree in Business Management & Leadership from the University of Kansas and received a master’s degree in Healthcare Administration from the University of Missouri. His background in healthcare started in 2008 as a physician recruiter. In 2011, he moved into the business development side of the healthcare industry where he was responsible for six hospital emergency room departments in Kansas, Missouri and Hawaii. He developed the ‘rural track administrative fellowship’ with the help of many rural healthcare CEO’s in Kansas. Once formalized, he moved to Pratt, Kansas and worked under the CEO of Pratt Regional Medical Center before moving to Genoa, Nebraska where he served as CEO prior to accepting the position at Clay County Medical Center. Austin is married to Michelle, and in his free time likes to play acoustic guitar, fly single engine airplanes, and work on home remodeling projects. He spoke for the annual meeting of the Clay County Hospital Foundation on May 4th, 2015 after his first full day on the job.
Owner, Braden Financial Services
James D. Braden graduated from High school in Wakefield, Kansas. He received his CLU designation from the American College in Bryn Maur, Pennsylvania. He is owner of Braden Financial Services in Clay Center as well as a Life Insurance Agent & Investment Broker. He is a Chartered Life Underwriter Member and Past President of the Kansas Association and Flint Hills Association of Life Underwriters. For 32 years he has been a member of the insurance industry’s highest achievers with the Million Dollar Round Table, National Quality Award, as well as a 27 year recipient of the National Sales Achievement Award. Jim served 16 years as State Representative from the 64th Legislative District. During his tenure in the Kansas Legislature he served in several capacities including Speaker of the House (1987-1990) and House Majority Leader (1985-1986). Jim’s public service included being a Kansas Delegate to 1988 Republican National Convention and Republican candidate in the primary election of 1990 for Kansas Commissioner of Insurance. Jim’s interests in the community are exemplified by his membership in many civic organizations and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. He currently serves on the board for Peoples National Bank of Clay Center. Jim’s hobbies include flying, sailing, fishing, hunting, golf. He and his wife Margie have seven children and seven grandchildren.
Gary Griffiths grew up on a farm west of Clay Center, KS and attended schools in this community. Gary graduated from the University of Kansas in 1957. Sally and Gary were married in 1958. They lived in Odessa, Texas and St. Louis, Missouri before moving back to Clay Center. Gary worked at Hutchinson Manufacturing for 24 years. His positions ranged from sales and marketing to General Manager during those years. In addition, He had responsibility for another division of Lear Siegler in Wahpeton, North Dakota. Gary and Sally have two sons; Slade and Stuart. Slade is in the educational field and Stuart is in social services. Thay made the choice to move back to their home town and neither Sally or Gary have ever regretted that decision. This is a special community and is a great place to live and to nurture a family.
Attorney, Ryan & Mullin PA
Dusty Mullin was born in Abilene, Kansas and graduated from Abilene High School in 1988. After graduation, he continued his education at Sterling College in Sterling, Kansas. He married Piper Green of Clay Center after college and worked there for 4 years while she finished school. Dusty attended law school at Washburn and graduated in 1999. Since that time he has been a part of what is now Ryan and Mullin, PA. He and his wife Piper have 3 children - Hunter, Adelyn, and Logan. Dustin's children are the seventh generation to live on the family homestead near Oak Hill. Dustin enjoys hunting, fishing, and team roping.

Grace was raised in the Washington and Clay County area. She attended school in Morganville and graduated from Clay Center High School. She continued her education at Emporia State University where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics. After college, Grace taught school in Australia for two years and upon returning to the states, she continued her teaching career by serving USD 379 for an additional twelve years. Grace married Bill Oetinger and the couple has two daughters, one son-in-law and two grandchildren. Grace currently serves as V.P. for Oetinger-Lloyd Construction and assists with the business wherever she is needed. She is a active member of the community and is a member of the Avanti Club, Nea Study Club and PEO. Currently she serves on the board for the Clay County Hospital Foundation, Clay Center Educational Endowment, Time 4 You, and Common Ground ministries. She and her husband, Bill are members of the United Methodist Church. She takes great pride in her family and enjoys her role as mother and grandmother. Her hobbies include travel, gardening, sewing, crafts and reading. She enjoys spending time with family and friends.
Tax Accountant, Sink Gordon & Associates
Terri Lee Parry was born and raised in Clay Center. She graduated from CCCHS in 1978 and received her AA in Accounting from Cloud County Community College. Terri worked for Copeland-Carlson-McMahan until she began her postal career in 1987. She served as Morganville Postmaster for 14 years and Clifton Postmaster for 8 years, retiring in 2012. She returned to work in January 2013 to Sink Gordon & Associates, preparing tax returns. She directs the St. Paul Lutheran Church LOGOS Handchime Choir. Terri is a charter member of the Morganville Lions Club and has held several local and state positions, including being the current local treasurer. She is a member of Kansas National Association of Postmasters. Terri has been a Hospital Board Member since 2008. She married Craig Parry in 1980 and they farm north of Morganville. They have four children and three grandchildren.

Scott Patterson was born in Clay Center, KS and raised on a farm in northern Clay County. He graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Pharmacy. While in college I met my wife Lyn, a native of Oklahoma. They have two children and two grandchildren. Lyn has assisted Scott with several business ventures, but is now retired. She donates her time with “Time For You” and Church projects. Patterson is the Pharmacy Director at Clay County Medical Center and in his spare time he enjoys golfing, gardening, cycling, and traveling.

Preston has been a life long resident of Clay Center, KS. He has worked at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home since December 1995. Preston is married to Shannon, she is employed at Ryan and Mullin Law Office. He has one step-son, Zachary. He is a member of the Clay Center United Methodist Church and active in the Clay Center Rotary Club. In his free time Preston enjoys hunting, traveling, gardening, golfing, and working on the farm. Preston has been a member of the Clay County Hospital Foundation since 2005.

Ron Roth has lived in Clay County all his life. In 1970, he graduated from Clay Center Community High School and in 1974, he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science from Kansas State University. In 1984, Ron married Marilynn Meug, a Jr. High math teacher at Clay Center Community Middle School. She was originally from Troy, Kansas. They have two children, Amanda and Nathan. Ron has a lifetime involvement with Roth Farms, a diversified agriculture partnership with his parents and brother. Ron’s focus has been the pork production area of Roth Farms – breeding stock for commercial sales. Ron served as trustee on the Clay County Medical Center Board for 12 years (1996-2008). He enjoys sports, church activities, agriculture related boards, and Kansas State University events.
Attorney, Ryan & Mullin PA
Mike was born and reared in Clay Center, Kansas. He is a graduate of Kansas StatemUniversity in Architecture and Washburn University School of Law. Mike is an attorney with Ryan & Mullin, P.A. He is also licensed as a real estate broker, abstractor, and title insurance agent. Mike retired in 1997 from the Kansas Army National Guard as a Major General. Mike is married to the former Marcia Pruser. Together they have five children and ten grandchildren.

Walter Slingsby was born on February 2, 1953 in Clay Center, KS. He attended school in Clay Center and graduated from the Clay County Community High School in 1971. Upon graduation he was employed by USF & G Insurance Company, in Wichita as an underwriter and then decided to return to Clay Center in 1976 where he became part owner of the Slingsby Insurance Agency, with his father, Duane Slingsby. Walt holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Fort Hays State University. He married Carol (Berland) Slingsby in June 1977 and they have lived in Clay Center since that time. Walt and Carol have four children and one son-in-law; Janelle and Jeff Bergman, Shon Slingsby, Adam Slingsby, and Patrick Slingsby. Walter is an active member of the St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church.
Charlotte Buchmann Stagner is a fourth generation Clay County native. She received her Bachelor Degree in Journalism and Master degree in Secondary Education from Kansas State University. Charlotte was associated with her father, Arnold Buchmann in Buchmann Jewelry for ten years. She later taught English and Journalism at Beloit High School and Clay Center Community High School. The last twenty years of her teaching career were at Clay Center Junior High. Charlotte is a charter member and past regent of local D A R Chapter; a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Teachers; Nea Study Club; Garden Club; and First Presbyterian Church, where she is an ordained Elder. Charlotte has played golf since her college days, held a medal from Kansas Women’s Golf Association and is presently secretary of Morning Ladies Golf at the Clay Center Country Club. Charlotte is a long time member of the board of the Clay County Hospital Foundation and a member of Clay Center Carnegie Library Board.
Clyde has made Clay Center, KS his home since 1972 where he began his professional career as a school psychologist with USD 379 and the Twin Lakes Educational Cooperative. He retired in 2003 and then worked part-time with the school system for another three years. In his retirement he is discovering that his life is enriched by serving a variety of causes. He serves on the Pawnee Mental Health Board and PMH Endowment Board, the Common Ground Board, the One-on-One Board, CCH Foundation Board. He is a CC Middle School Youth Friends Mentor, and a Meadowlark Hospice volunteer. He is a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and has begun training in the Stephen Ministry program. Clyde is married to Rita who retired in 2010 from being the Patient Care Coordinator for Meadowlark Hospice. They have two children and seven grandchildren. Together they enjoy golfing, walking, eating out, and spending time with family and friends. Clyde enjoys running, which has been a positive addiction over the past thirty years.
