Renovation of the Clay County Medical Center's Dining Room
In March 2010, the Clay County Hospital Foundation board voted to provide funding towards the remodeling project in the Dining Room.

Front Row (L to R): Kim Haproff,
Alice Christensen, and Rosaura Wawrzyniak
Back Row (L to R): Justin Urban,
Natasha Newell, Joan Wohler, Tracy McCann,
and Daniel Deaver.
The board wanted to express their appreciation for employee contributions to the Foundation. The goal was to provide a pleasant environment where employees could enjoy their meals and break times. Most importantly, the gift would benefit all who use the Dining Room. Visitors and patient family members regularly eat in the dining room. This setting provides an atmosphere where patient’s families and staff can interact in a relaxed atmosphere.
Dietary and Engineering staff designed the plans for the project. Hospital employees provided the labor which included removing old wall paper, wall preparation, painting, installation of cabinetry, ceiling tiles, blinds, laying floor tile, moving doors and electrical wiring. Ron Bender, CEO complimented the quality of the workmanship and the thoughtfulness that went into the planning and material selection.
New equipment included an ice machine, steam table, merchandizer, salad bar and dishwasher. The project will include new tables, chairs and wall art. Tea, coffee, water, juice and soda are now accessible in the dining area which improves flow through the serving line.
More than 60 employees give regular donations through payroll deduction and many others have made one time donations to join the foundation or support particular campaigns. Membership in the Foundation requires a $500 contribution and many employees continue giving even after they have reached the amount needed for membership.
Whether improvements in our hospital are large or small, the employees, members of the foundation and community have responded with a kind, generous spirit and dedication to the mission of the hospital.
