Each year I look forward to reporting accomplishments of the Clay County Hospital Foundation. The donations of time and money are crucial to the success of Clay County Medical Center. The Board of Trustees, our CEO and the Foundation Board are committed to the mission of providing quality medical care for our communities. Many of you may never know the individuals you are helping, yet you give. Please know, the membership of this organization has been vital to the continued success of the hospital and each expansion project for twenty years.
In 2007, the Clay County Hospital Foundation wrote checks to the hospital totaling $540,000 to complete our donation towards the expansion project, “Building For a Healthy Future.” That campaign was recognized in November at the Kansas Hospital Association with an Emerald Award, which is displayed at the head table this evening.
Also in November, Clay County Medical Center installed a Phillips Brilliance 16 slice Cat Scanner with a value of approximately $420,000. This new equipment makes more examinations available for patients in Clay County. Specifically, studies of the arteries (CT angiography) and multi planer three dimensional imaging are possible. Most importantly, images can be acquired ten times faster, which significantly decreases the scan time and requires shorter breath holds for patients.
All of the construction was provided by local contractors and the staff at Clay County Medical Center. The space includes a dedicated bathroom and dressing room for patient privacy. Clay County Hospital Foundation donated $50,000 to prepare and remodel the room for the project.

"Welcome to the CCMC Film Awards - We're moving from x-ray film to the fabulous film, Granny Gets An MRI. Tonight I would like to have a little fun and recognize some employees. Many of you supported our campaign, Granny Gets An MRI, as we tried to win an MRI for the hospital during the Siemens Medical Solutions online video contest. We ended 3rd in the nation out of 101 hospitals. Although, I desperately wanted to win, I was proud of the showing we made."
