Ron was born and raised on a farm in Seward County Nebraska, just west of Lincoln. He served in the U.S. Navy on a minesweeper. Ron holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and he received his MBA from the University of Miami. He began his working career at a 1150 bed Jackson Memorial hospital in Miami, Florida during his college years. He has since focused on health care and especially rural hospital administration. Ron married Patti during his Navy years. Patti and Ron met in high school and she is also from Seward County Nebraska. They have two married daughters and three grandsons. Ron and Patti came to Clay Center in the summer of 1999 and we are grateful for the leadership he has provided for this hospital.
Mike Floersch - President's Comments:
"
Foundation wanted to send a thank you to Bryant Anderson for his contributions. We have a large card on the back table and would invite any of you who would like to sign it to do so after the meeting.
We decided to change the format of our annual meeting and focus more on thanking the membership than the business meeting. We have included a summarized Financial Report on the back of the program. If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact Sandy Fox or me at any time. Your board will be meeting quarterly in the future and the next scheduled meeting is May 2nd. If you have any concerns or ideas, please feel free to share them with any of your board members."
Video "Not Me" Presentation
Marcia J. Newell, Director
Marcia Newell joined Clay County Medical Center as the new Director of Marketing & Development for the hospital and the foundation at the end of January. She has 15 years experience in insurance sales and service with Kansas Farm Bureau and affiliated companies. She has also owned and operated her own small business and been a teacher of adults and developmentally delayed children. She has many awards for her prior work. Marcia is married to Jeff Newell, who has been the Clay County Farm Bureau agent for the last 3 ½ years. They have one, married daughter, who teaches 8th grade science in Augusta, KS. They became grandparents in February.
"I appreciate being given the opportunity to serve as director of the foundation. I know I have big shoes to fill and I will do my best to keep us organized, carry out the wishes of the board and fulfill the mission of the foundation."
"I hope each one here recognizes the dedication your board of directors brings to the organization. They didn’t want to touch the foundation funds so each donated personally to provide the evening’s entertainment and meal. Your board has also given of their time and talents. I think the chorus I have printed in the program says it all."
“The world becomes a better place
When someone stands and leads the way.
Steps forward, when they’d rather say,
“Not Me.”
"My words tonight were supposed to help you get better acquainted with me. I think that is best accomplished by giving you a peek at what I see each day. The dedication of the people who provide medical & support services at CCMC is phenomenal. I have been given such a warm welcome and am more impressed with each passing day at the level of commitment and quality of care the staff and volunteers provide for our patients. I have to tell you I couldn’t have shown this presentation without the efforts, patience and talents of Jim Seley. He took my idea and made it better than it was to start with. "
Mike Floersch, "At this time I would like to acknowledge someone special who did not say, NOT ME. Since the last annual foundation meeting, we have received the resignation from the board of our past-chairman, Chuck Stuart. The board and myself would like to publicly thank Chuck for:
- His Great Leadership and Talents
- His Driving Force in the Establishment of theHospital Foundation
- His Fundraising Abilities Resulting in the Quality of Medical Services Available
The Clay County Community is the beneficiary of Chuch Stuart's dedication.
On behalf of the Foundation Board, Marcia and myself, I want to thank each of you foundation members for your involvement and for not saying, NOT ME

Not Me
Artist/Band: Keni Thomas, Vince Gill & Emmylou Harris
Lyrics
No one raised their hand that day when they asked for volunteers,
He got picked out by default, he was the only daddy there.
They said we know what you’re thinking, choose someone esle instead,
But this league is built on coaches, who stood right there and said....
Not Me, not me, No way with this job of mine,
I could never find the time
Not Me, not me, The world becomes a better place
When someone stands and leads the way
Steps forward, when they’d rather say, “Not Me”.
The judge says you’re the oldest, may choose a legal guardian
I’m sorry that you lost your folks , but there’s no next of kin
Two brothers and a sister, she knew how hard it would be
But she solftly said , “I’ll raise them”, while a voice inside her screamed..
Not Me, not me, I can’t believe what’s happening
This isn’t how it’s supposed to be
Not Me, not me, The world becomes a better place
When someone stands and leads the way
Steps forward, when the’d rather say, “Not Me”.
A young captain at attention, a star pin on his chest
He recalls the battle, while the final roll call’s read.
They were the finest soldiers, it was my priviledge to lead
They deserve the medals, the men who died, not me.
Not Me, not me, I just did what I was called to do
You’d do the same if it was you
Not Me, not me, The world becomes a better place
When someone stands and leads the way
Steps forward, when they’d rather say, “Not Me”.
