  • Cindy Rush, Personnel Director, presented several employee policies for review by the Board. In response to the Kansas Hospital Association Mid-Year salary survey there were small adjustments to the salary scales for nurses.

  • Cindy Rush also presented a report on the employee health insurance renewal proposal from Blue Cross and Blue Shield. The rates would increase 55 percent for single coverage and 54 percent for family coverage. Coverage based on the Sunflower Health Network plan provided by Preferred Health Systems was considered as a replacement. The coverage will be similar for employees and the cost increase is about 27% above the current cost. Employees will, however, have the choice of three different deductibles, which can adjust the premium portion that the employees pay. After review of the plans and options the Clay County Medical Center Board decided to switch coverage to the new plan. Clay County Medical Center will pick up about 70 percent of the increase with the employees picking up the rest.

  • Ron Bender, CEO reported that Kim Davis R.N., Emergency Services Manager at CCMC has been elected Treasurer of the newly formed North Central Regional Trauma Council and Ron Bender was also elected to the executive Board. Dr. John Kelly, of Clay Center Family Physicians, serves as a member of the council.
