9, 2003 - Steve Lewallen and David Wright, Architects
with Health Facilities Group, were present to discuss the hospital construction
project. The Family Birthing Center is complete and is now in use. Work is progressing
in the north wing and hospital hallways. Various details were discussed and noted..
The project overall is behind schedule due primarily to earlier flooring problems
but is now progressing well again.
- Ron Bender presented a letter
from the County Commission requesting support for a Community Capacity building
Grant. The Board supports the Counties project and authorized Board President
Lori Penner to sign a letter of support.
- The Board reviewed a
recommendation from the medical staff to grant full privileges for Dr. Murphy
to perform Colonoscopy procedures. The credentials were approved.
- Deb
Wietharn and Ron Bender presented the Capital Acquisitions Committee report and
requests for capital equipment purchases. The report and recommendations that
were approved after discussion and questions were for a total of $278,785 are
as follows:
- A new cardiac and vital signs central monitoring
system for ICU and telemetry monitoring from Nihon Kohden at a cost of $135,424.
- Two
MAC 5000 EKG machines and two EKG carts from GE Medical Systems for a total cost
of $18,226.
- Three LIFEPAK 20 Defibrillator/Monitors from Medtronic
Physio-Control for a total cost of $31,510.35.
- Ten adult and ten
infant Actar 911 CPR training manikins for a total of $1,140.
- A
transfer table for use in the sonogram (ultrasound) room from Hill-Rom for $2,650.
- An
upgrade to the hospital telephone system to replace the old system in the 709
building for Meadowlark Hospice and the hospital administrative offices that will
be moved to the 709 building for a total of $9,969.
- Computer equipment
and system upgrades for a total cost of $15,689.70.
- Business office
copier from Central Office Supply of Clay Center for $11,249.
- An
A-2000 XP anesthesia monitoring system for surgery from Aspect Medical Systems
for $9,500.
- Two Portable 8,000 Btu Air Conditioners for use in
the Pharmacy and Sonogram areas from Maytag at a total cost of $1,078.
- A
6' x 12' enclosed trailer with a rear ramp door and a curbside door for the Maintenance
Department to use for deliveries of patient care equipment for Meadowlark hospice.
Meadowlark is a department of Clay County Medical Center and serves five counties
including Clay, Marshall, Washington, Republic and Cloud. Equipment such as hospital
beds are delivered and picked up for patients in the entire service area. The
trailer is made by PACE and is from Brooks in Manhattan. It will cost $2,599.
- A
treadmill and monitoring and test equipment from QUINTON for Cardiac Rehab stress
testing at a cost of $19,312.
- A Q-TRACK II Holter monitoring and
analysis system from QUINTON for the Cardiac department at a cost of $17,500.
- A
computer software program from CBR Associates for Quality improvement and safety
tracking and analysis for a cost of $1,500.
- A new desk and storage
cabinets for the front office from Central Office Supply at a total cost of $1,438.
- The next Board meeting is set for September 30th at 7:30pm.
