6, 2004 - Ron Bender presented a letter from Andrew
Brittan, M.D. of United Radiology regarding the concept of the CCMC imaging department
going to a digital format rather than film for radiology diagnostic use. The new
technology would create electronic images and allow for greater efficiency and
make storage and retrieval of images much easier and faster. It will also allow
the radiologists to provide timely diagnostic consultation 24 hours a day. The
concept is under study by CCMC and further study will be done.
-
Bender updated the Board on the search for a new full time General Surgeon. Candidates
have been interviewed and one is seriously considering relocating to Clay Center.
- The CCMC Board discussed possible construction needs including expansion
of the wellness center, physical therapy needs, cardiac rehab needs, space for
education and meetings, outpatient clinic needs, and clinic expansion needs. The
desire to coordinate Clay County Medical Center projects with other community
projects where possible was a part of the discussion.
- The
next item for discussion was the issue of emergency room coverage. Board President
Lori Penner declared a possible conflict of interest and left the meeting. The
Board then discussed possible changes to the ER coverage contract between Clay
County Medical Center and Clay Center Family Physicians. No action was taken.
- The
next Board meeting is set for July 20th at 8:00pm.
