receivable. After discussion the requests were approved.
- Leana Hamilton, RN, Director of Nursing and Kim Davis, RN Emergency
Services and Intensive Care Unit Coordinator reported on activities
and services in nursing. With the addition of new equipment and staff
training, Clay County Medical Center now is able to better monitor cardiac
patients without using an outside service contract. A Dysrhythmia training
class is planned for June 1 and June 7 for Certified Nurse Aides and
new Registered Nurses. Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Designator Requestor,
Trauma Nurse Core Course, Neonatal and other classes will be scheduled
for this year. Training and education has been emphasized and is having
a positive impact on staff performance and morale.
- Scott Patterson, Rph, reported on the Pharmacy service at Clay County
Medical Center. He explained the hospital's efforts to keep medication
errors to the minimum. Pharmacy and nursing have taken an active role
in addressing possible sources of errors. One paperwork step in the
process of ordering and administering medication has been eliminated.
That eliminates a possible source of errors. Scott mentioned that he
thinks that Quality Assurance Director Bev Rieger does a good job. The
state pharmacy inspector was here for a regular inspection this past
week. The inspection went well with very little problems.
- It was reported that the elevator for the clinic basement is now installed
and finish work on the project is proceeding on schedule.
- The architect will be back on Monday May 14 to meet with department
heads to get their input on facility planning issues. Trustee Jeff Yarrow
will maintain liaison with the County Commission regarding their progress
on a new Health Department building.
- The next meeting will be on May 29th.
